I've lived within walking distance of the Illinois river all my life. there is something about that murky water that I just can't live without. When I'm too tired to put the boat in,I just go down and bank fish for a few hours.
I've also took the boat to a few different lakes and ponds, done some fishing. there's some thing about being on the water for a day that makes all my problems disappear!!
Every time I drive over the bridge on my way to or from town,I check out the river conditions-and can't wait till I'm on the boat,feeling that water under my 14' Lund!!! Yes,I definately go on the water just for the sake of being on the water.

I just love it because all of the problems that are in life are gone as soon as I get into the water. River, Bayou whatever. Just the wind in my face and the waves to calm my nerves.
You cant pay for therapy this good.

Ditto on that!!! Makes me forget all the stuff I have oing on at work and just relax!!! Just bought a small travel trailer also, been to one state park in Oklahoma for 4 days near the lake, it was like a double dose of relaxation!

Ditto. I realize I am lucky we have the boat in the water all summer at a mooring. All I have to do is walk down the street to the beach and take the kayak out to it. I could even swim out if the mood strikes (hasn't yet). We like to just sit on it if it is calm and maybe take a swim or fish a bit. My son loves it too - hopefully it will be his eventually!

Def. love having mine docked as opposed to trailered. So easy to go down, jump on, throw off the lines & go. Like we did this evening.
Grabbed some pizza & wings & headed for the sanbar to go swimming.

I like the water. I don't know why but I love being on the boat. My wife doesn't understand, but she does put up with it.

Something about the sounds, the smell, and the throttle on my modest little boat that makes it enjoyable.

I moved and I'm 4 hours away from Lake Pleasant now, and it's killing me!

Yep, nothing better than nice weather on the water. My folks have mooring rights, and my sister bought a house 2 miles away and she has mooring rights too. I think I'll pay for the mooring and outfit my boat with full cover and bilge pumps, batteries, water alarm, etc.

Been boating 5 years now, still have not figured out how to get the boat in or out of the water without getting wet!

This new Bayliner Cuddy Cabin is a great thing. The kids fall right a sleep and wife and I can sit behind the helm and make goo goo eyes. Now I know what those grab rails on the gunnel are for (hee hee hee).

Ok folks, I got that marine radio. A hand held job. A few folks out on the water were nice enough to let me know where they were and how well I came through. I like the extra insurance, and just letting it scan and pick up other boaters chat.

I have been boating since May and love it we have gone every weekend.

I have always wanted a boat and never gave it a chance due to a so called busy life and now I have had a opertunity to buy a boat and spend more time with my family. Trying to set one day aside every weekend was rough at first but it a no-thinker now. I love just to go out and throw anchor at the local sandbar and sit back and let the kids swim. Nothing like being on the water.

I had a boat when I was a kid (30 yrs ago). In June a friend asked if I wanted to go out on his boat. We had a blast and I was hooked again. Another friend of mine had a 89, 23' I/O that he hadn't used in 4 years. So we were talking and he said, If I wanted it, just take it!!!! So my daughter and I got it all fixed up and found dock space on the South Shore in Freeport. I go on it 3-5 times a week now. Usually in the afternoons and come in when it is getting dark. I just tool around and drop anker and watch the other boats go bye. It is the most relaxing thing I've ever done. I've taken all the kids and some of there friends as well. It is great with one or two of the kids because they are a captive audience and gives us time together to chat. The youngest is 14 and the oldest is 23. so you can figure that it is hard to find any time with them anymore.

I have invited a few other friends out but they don't seem to find the time. They don't understand that even if you pop out on the water for a few hours, it is a total change in attitude.

We have restaurants on the canals that you can just pull up and eat outside. Now that is a real winner.

I have to say that I have not been at the Golf Club alot since I got this thing in the water. They say you can either golf or boat, but not both. Looks like I will have to retire to do both!!!!

A lot of you guys go home when it gets dark . Night time is my favorite time to be on the water . It's much more peacful at night with hardly any traffic on the lake . I catch a lot of bass at night . I usually don't even put in until maybe an hour before dark and then fish most of the nght . But I work at night too , I guess most of you guys are putting your night gown on about the time I'm getting my night started .

Anytime on the water is a good time, even with the frustration of kids trying to learn how to fish.... but when you go out with the family and enjoy the time on the water together for a few hours, and then get to snap a picture like this http://redfury111.googlegroups.com/web/lake+sunset.jpg , all the frustration is suddenly forgotten and we all talk about how much fun we had...

I like to listen to small waves make lapping sounds against the hull while watching the sun set as the boat gently rocks.

But sometimes its fun to just run around....
