No.<br />It is a 1987 model, made by US Marine.<br /><br />Mercury bought the Force line from the 1989 bankrupcy of us marine.

Mercury bought them, never made them, right Roscoe? Just part numbers went to Quicksilver I think....correct if wrong.

West Bend, then Chrysler, Force, US Marine. Merc/Bayliner dealers should have access to parts

Re: Who made Force?

Mercury continued production of the Force motors until 1999.<br />They remained low tech / old tech motors till the end.<br />They replaced many of the old Us Marine parts with Mercury parts.<br />Upgrades varied by year and hp.<br /><br />Ignition systems, carbs, stators, lower units, starters, TnT units, are among the items Merc put on. <br /><br /><br />Chrysler produced them till '83<br />US Marine from 84-89<br />Merc from 89-99 <br /><br />Mercury is you best shot for most parts.<br />MercuryPartsExpress.com<br /><br />Some parts are no longer available from Merc, but are available from aftermarket producers.

This might be a bit of a technicality, but if memory serves me correctly, US Marine was purchased by Brunswick. Brunswick is a holding company that owns Merc, Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, and others. Brunswick integrated Force with Merc and made Bayliner a separate operating unit. According to Brunswick's website, the purchase took place in 1986.

Re: Who made Force?

Tim, you may be right on the 1986.<br />But I have worked on and owned 40 and 50 hp '87 and '88 motors that had an id plate that said "US Marine".<br />Perhaps Brunswick/Merc continued to use the US Marine name for a couple years, I don't know.<br /><br />'83/'84 and 89/90 were the years they changed the model year id's and the serial number systems, for the most part.

Re: Who made Force?

86 is just what Brunswick's website says. I have a 95 Bayliner that still has US Marine on all of the gauges. They are stock too. I don't know why, but I'm sure there is a good reason for it.

Re: Who made Force?

I have a Force 91 model 150 and it was the first 150 one with the thunderbolt electronics , which was a carryover from Mercury (the older versions were prestolite CD, which I think was Chrysler). I don't believe that any of the parts on my motor were made in China, but I commonly call mine a Chinese Mercury. It's also a 5 cylinder, instead of the Merc's 6. Just thought that I would add this for more food for thought.

Re: Who made Force?

My 1984 - 125 is a Force motor. I've done enough research to know 83 was the last year it was sold as chrysler. There are a few subttle differences between my 84 and an 83, enough that most parts are not interchangable.

Re: Who made Force?

I have a classic fifty 45 hp(1986-1989) mercury on my bass tracker 17' which i want to replaced with a 85 hp force.<br />Is it posible to use the same gear, trottle cable and wiring(start and trim/tilt)from my mercury to operate the 85 hp force.<br />I hope it is not necessary to inform in wich year the force engine was build.(I think that it should be somewhere around 1985. If so let me now and I will trace it.

Re: Who made Force?

I think bruswick bought bayliner in about 86 but did not get US marine for a few more years.<br /> but best I remember US marine was supplying motors to the bayliner/brunswick as package deals. I had all the joy to be working for a merc dealer when the 89 thing was stuck on us. ready or not your back to working on chyslers with merc electronics I think is what I was told.<br /> but I always thought the base engine was good, motorola nor prestolite could ever make a decent ign system and merc was only marginally better but it was what it was. the most trouble some 4 stroke motors in the yamaha line are silver blue mercs with motorola ign systems.
