Why did it take boat builders so long to figure out many families like bigger, wider bows like the SeaRay Sundecks? My 1985 19' bowrider has a much bigger bow than most 21' from today - and guess where the kids spend all their time?

The Searay isn't at all the traditional deckboat which were more based on pontoons - it's really a wide top in front bowrider, like several others out there now. That's the design we'll likely get whenever we want/need a new boat. Nice family boats.

We had a Grady Tournament 192 before we sold it to get our sundeck. Just needed more room for the kids, tube, skis, etc. Wife loves it. I like it, but takes more time to maintain. The Splendor series looks nice too. Never seen one in person though so hard to consider it.

Thanks for all the responses! Makes a guy with OCD just have more decisions LOL. So far I am really leaning towards Chaparral. I have read a lot about them and they seem to be a well made boat, plus I love their looks.

In my view Azure, Crownline, and Regal are also easy on the eyes. Chap is just the one that hits the sweet spot.

... hiya T-man. saw these deck boats at a "toy show". this would fit your iboats handle but may task the budget. i think you can run on one viper to save a little on fuel.

I have a 217 Deckboat by Seaswirl, although I may be having some issues with how the boat was delivered I absolutley love the layout. we went for a 2 hour cruise with 7 adults and 7 children (5 of the kids were under 3). and we had room to spare! the boat ran great and everyone enjoyed. we did not get the head installed but the change room is great for the kids and the storage is superb. The modified "V" hull works fine for me.

They have since discontinued the deckboat line in order to concentrate on the striper. Genmar is the manufacturer and uses similar designs and layouts in the Larson, glastron and four winns. Because the line has been discontinued you may be able to get a good deal.

Mine has the full camper top which may be a bit ugly but man o' man has it come in handy!
