Gone are the days of being loyal to one brand of car or another.

GM owns Vauxhall, Opel, SAAB and 50% of New United (Toyota own the other 50%), Hummer, Isuzu, 20% of Suburu.

Nissan owns 15% of Renault. Renault owns 44% of Nissan.

Confused yet?

Toyota owns 55% of Diahatsu.

FIAT owns IVECO, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, 56% of Farrari, 50% of Maserati (Farrari owns the other 50%).

What about now, confused?

Volkswagen owns Bentley, SEAT, VW Nutzfag, 70% of SKODA, 99% of Audi - Audi owns Lamborgini & Bugatti.

BMW owns Rover & Rolls Royce. BMW then sold the Landrover to Ford.

DaimlerChrysler is the product of a merger between DaimlerBenz & Chrysler, they own a swag of brands including jeep & Hyundai. They also own 37% of Mitsubishi which in turn owns 17% of Proton, which in turn owns 64% of Lotus.

Ford own Volvo, Jaguar and Landrover (the latest rover has a BMW engine), 33% of Mazda, Astin Martin, Lincoln and Mercury.

Hyundai use mitsubishi running gear, the new mitsubishi colt uses a mercedes motor, daewoo use GM, ford and mazda swap running gear.................................

The only stand alone car manufacturers are (to the best of my knowledge) Honda & Porsche.

Aldo
