OK guys, let's work to keep this thread open. We've had one politically charged post that I just deleted. One other example previously was self moderated which I prefer. Thanks.

I am as patriotic as anybody but have never had the urge to fly the flag on my boat. I buy center console boats for one reason. I want as much unobstructed casting as possible. I guess if I was on the water to cruise I would feel different.

I agree, we all should ensure that we don't say anything that would offend anybody or be partisan in any way.

So far, I have read each post in this thread and saw no problematic comments from anyone. Hope it stays that way.

Everybody seems to be patriotic and that can't be bad.

That is absolutely understandable. Flying, or not flying Old Glory does not measure one's patriotism in my opinion. It's all about what is in your heart and soul.

16x24, at all times. Actually had a hard time finding one to fit where I wanted it, but wound up picking one up at Lake George a few weeks ago. Perfect size.

That conversation has come up a couple of times in our house. The flag goes on the anchor light pole.

I Fly it proudly at home and on the boat.

Currently I fly a Skull and Crossbones off a nice home made staff afixed to the aft center bimini anchor point. I cant decide if I want to fly the Yacht Ensign or Old Glory. I'm trying to volunteer with the USCG as well and would love to be part of the local power squadron, Either way, I'm looking for and deciding on the Best place to mount the recepticle and type of pole (Stainless or Teak) I want it center stern but theres a gas cap in the way and I need to be creative. I may give in and use the stern lightpole as I've been deciding for years.

Anytime the boat's in the water the colors are flying off the stern.

I fly no flags, to answer a question on page 1.
I'd fly them if I could afford them, but all the quality ones that dont appear postage stamp sized on my boat are expensive, and that money is better used keeping the boat afloat so somewhere down the line I still have a boat I can eventually fly a flag on.

This memorial day, center of the stern whenever we are out.

Fly the flag from stern light pole every time out on the Maxum 2500. Just recently bought this - maiden flight this past weekend - looked great.

Be proud of your Country. Nothing wrong with that. I'll fly mine on the stern as soon as I get her in the water.

Oh, be warned though. I had a friend in Highschool from Hamilton, ON. He was out on his families boat, flying the US Flag since they moved here, and was literally stabbed in the...uh stern, by the flag pole when the boat hit a "funny" wave. Karma man...karma.

I don't fly any flags. There's no flagpole on my boat. If one wants to fly a flag that's great but I don't see that it makes one better than anyone else.
