My cordless 1/2" drill and a few 2' long feeder bits..... I could rig it up and it would sound like gun shots...... there would be debris floating down stream ;) a great deal of debris but good size pieces.

When I first saw this thread I was thinking upstream Au Sable.
The area your talking about is just west of my sisters house, caught a lot fish in there!

Re: Who removes fallen trees from rivers?!?

We have this problem in my area after hurricanes. The bayous get clogged up with fallen trees and there are usually quite a few of them. The locals usually just go out in boats with their chainsaws and cut them. The logs are then hauled up onto the bank.

We usually don't get any agencies involved because that would require months to get anythign sone, if it ever got done at all.

Incidently, I also make a habit of towing loose logs and pilings out of our waterways. If I can get them to someplace where they will be hauled out of the water, I do, but usually I end up towing them up into an offshoot bayou. That allows me to get them somewhere where they are not likely to float back out into places where boats will be traveling at high speed.
