Let's assume for the sake of argument that going into Iraq was a total mistake.A complete pullout now would simply leave a widespread radical insurgent lawless situation unattended.Sort of a post Katrina New Orleans on steroids.
Whether our involvement in the region led to that situation at this juncture is really immaterial,lest for the sake of argumentitive debate.
Here's a left field analogy.It's like arguing over whether an engine should have been completely tore down to perform an overhaul that some say was totally unwarranted.Fine.Fact is ,the engine now needs to be reassembled and placed back in service.Same with Iraq.Last I heard ,that's what the current intention is.Stay until some symbolence of infrastructure can be maintained by the new Iraqi goverment and then get out of Dodge.Oh , we'll still maintain some pressence in the region,just as we do in many other corners of the world.It's simply in our best security interests.
