It was a great Christmas, and there was motor boating involved, but alas, no new boat.

The only boat-related gift the admiral gave me was a fire extinguisher. I don't know if that means I wasn't so good, or I was really, really hot!

My wife and kids pulled up with a guy behind the wheel of a 32' cruiser and everyone had Santa hats and a sign addressed to me that said "Ahoy Captain!" Music over the loudspeaker - "Merry Christmas Baby..."

I honestly thought it was a joke. Nope! I'm now the proud owner of my first boat. Wanna guess how I spent Christmas day?

That said, I'm no expert so my stocking also came with a lot of books, and registration for a Coast Guard class in a couple of weeks. I'll also be coming here for a lot of help. I've got plenty of questions, but I'm going to do my homework too.

The boat in my avatar isn't a gift from the wife, but only one step below it...

She told me that she wanted a bigger boat.

Her: "Go get one with a bedroom, bathroom, shower, TV, and air conditioning."
Me: "You're telling me to go buy a bigger boat? What size?"
Her: "I don't care, as long as it's big enough to spend the weekend on without getting cramped"
Me: "My God, I love you..."

All jokes about them aside, any woman who can put up with the majority of our crap has to be pretty cool...

MY wife asked me after my second eye surgery in march what I would like to do this summer now that i could see again and I replied I would like to fish a bit and her response was why don't you get that pontoon boat you wanted I have a bonus check coming and I did. Not sure if that's a Christmas present , but it sure worked for me.

Thanks to the help of fellow trolling motor people. I will be getting 2 RC controlled 55 lb. trolling motors when the boat comes out of storage.

They are the only true gifts I would like at Christmas. I am so old I need very little.
Well maybe a 20 year old 1st mate, with a Catering Service that specializes in Pulled Pork.
