I can pick up a 19 ft spectrum blue fin with a 98 Ficht 90hp and it has been run less than 50 hours, with packing grease still on it....fellow had it stored and passed from cancer. Package $2800...... boat like new in most respects...
What to do?
Have heard horror stories on ficht, but, any good news for a 90hp or would I expect big money fixes on this barely broke in engine?
Thanks

Hard to say. Hours that low could be bad cause it means she has probably not been used for quite some time. Bad things happen to motors when they set.

If it were me, Id check compression, and give her a sea trial. fIs there sour fuel in the tank?

I have heard that when the fuel injection system goes on these motors, they are basically useless. The injectors are NLA. (Im sure there will be some available used for a decent amount of time.) Not sure why E-rude dropped em. Guess they only made em for a short run. Fuel pumps are also $800.00 for em. All in all, if the fuel system is gunked, the motor is junk. If she runs good, sounds like a decent deal.

All my .02

That's in the bad model years for OMC. Many of their 60-degree fichts up through 1999 had problems. First thing I'd do is get the serial number and see what campaigns were issued for it back in the day by OMC. Then contact Bombardier and see if their records show if all of the campaigns were completed on it. If not-it could be a problem.

thanks guys, I think I'm just going to move on and look for another "good deal" that isn't a potentially loaded gun...not worth the stress.

The V4's didn't have the same issues the V6's had, but since the parts supply can be sketchy it could have been a gamble.
