Boating time is here! For many of us it never stops, or started a couple months ago, but this weekend is still a benchmark.

So are you heading out? First launch of the season? Staying home to avoid the crazies? Which boats are you running?

Or are you stranded varicose (ie broken vessels)? Boatless and wish you had started shopping earlier? Still frozen in? Stuck on land because the children grabbed the boat first? Hovering over your repair shop?

We'll need someone to start a "Crazy stuff I saw this weekend" thread over in SHT--anything occuring afer noon Friday is fair game!

Been getting my rig ready all winter! She is running and floating prime, and I have had her out 4 times this spring already. I think I am going to stay close to home and take her to an electric only lake this weekend. I already saw enough crazies last weekend  Water was choppy as heck too!

Will be on Lake Guntersville in Alabama all weekend, going to keep it low key and watch everybody else make the news and you tube. We will be anchored up with some other boats tied together, having a couple of beers with the music cranked. Everybody stay safe!

Just finishing up a rebuild on a 1987 Lowe 20' "Fish & Fun" new deck, new carpet, new (built up) helm built new bech seat in the back & installed an on board latrine. Just finished the live well. Had her out twice now on a small local lake but the missus & I are heading cross state to the Colorado to spend Mem Day week in Havasu. I'm taking along my old 14' utility & 8 horse outboard just in case all hell breaks loose I'm not up the creek w/o a boat.

Benefit of retirement.. Weekdays only... If we ever go out weekends it's usually back in by noon. Would not even consider being out there this weekend. Living by the lake there are just to many Memorial Day tales to tell... Have a safe Holiday..

Cool beans. I plan on living this lifestyle one day! Luckily I work Mon-Thu, so obviously we know which day I go fishing out on. Unfortunately for my wife, when she wants to go for a day out on the lake we have to go on Sat or Sun. :p

Staying home to avoid the crazies?

Definately staying home. New boaters, boats breaking down, and Conservation Officers thicker than mosquitos is a no go for me.

The water is still a little chilly here, too.

I work FRI,Sat and Sundays so I can fish during the week. I spent most of today searching for Mr. Catfish without any luck but the water was calm and the boat ran great.

I stay off the water on holidays and weekends if I can. Besides, they're talking rain all weekend and my boat isn't summerized yet.....

heading off first thing tomorrow for 5 days on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, the Coastal Reserve, one of the world-designated Last Great Places; boats are the only access and I'll run two of them if they both work (which is why I have two). No phones. VHF. Cut off at low tide. No shopping.
Just my wife and I tomorrow, No. 1 daughter and BF and another couple Friday, 3 more couples Saturday (The guys are my poker group). Fishing, clamming, oysters, crab pots, gun shooting and beach combing; 6 miles of deserted beach. Getting brown and round.

The water ways are mostly used by locals or those who act that way--fishing and behaving. no jet skis or sofa boats. Big flounder, bigger horseflies. No lines at the ramp, and those who use it know what to do.

The biggest decisions I'll have to make are: lures or bait? Beer or ginandtonic?

I'll be working through Monday, but I might head out on Tuesday. Depends if I get my deck installed by then, and of course the weather.

To many rookies on the water for me. I was thinking about grabbing my camera and a cooler and going down to the ramp for awhile to watch the cartoons.

I will be out Saturday through Monday on the Mississippi River. I have a slip reserved at the marina so I only have to launch and retrieve once the whole weekend. There should be plenty of beach showing since the river is low right now, so space on the beaches shouldn't be too big of a problem.

I am taking a vacation day tommorow and going fishing all day but other than that I will sit it out, gets pretty kooky on the water holiday weekends.

Come to think of it I may take the wife fishing Sat or Sunday night but that will be on a real small lake that is never busy but all the big water around I will skip.

If you are going out keep your head on a swivel.

Looks like I'll be boating via the 'OPB' (Other People's Boats) method this weekend. Mine isn't ready yet :(

Weekend raft-up with the Power Squadron buds. No overnighting this weekend (sigh)

I will be heading to Cape Cod for the weekend. Bringing the Jon Boat and my fishing gear. I know a few ponds, lakes tucked away on the cape that used to have some good fishing in them years ago. Going to drown a few worms and see if anything is biting. Haven't been down to the cape in about three years. First time fresh water fishing on the cape in at least 10 years.

Heading out hopefully all weekend. Chance of rain and storms all weekend but very minimal. Its supposed to be very hot and humid so hopefully the rain and storms stay south. It was beautiful last weekend and not a lot of boats out which is fine with me. This will be our 4th time out and best of all Ive only spent about 100 bucks in fuel and still have half a tank.
