Who's got the pics of a Mercontrol rebuild?

Hi All,<br /><br />Somewhere, back when I didn't realize I would need it, I saw a post here or maybe someone's "Project Picture" site...which detailed the rebuilding of a Mercontrol. Now, I've searched and can't find it. Help!<br /><br />I want to take my Mercontrol apart, and I have had no luck in the search here to find any service guidelines. My Clymer manual doesn't even mention the control.<br /><br />I'm gonna need help at the engine end of the cables also.<br /><br />Right now, the Shift function seems to work, and the fast idle "sort of works" (stiff)...but as far as I can tell, when pushing the large Shift/Throttle lever all the way forward, it goes into gear but barely opens the throttle.<br /><br />So, I want to remove the cables at both ends and clean/lube the Mercontrol and cables as necessary.<br /><br />Also, is there a good source for new cables on-line if it turns out to need that?<br /><br />Thanks in advance for your help.<br /><br />Chuck

Is it the control with the warm up lever starboard of the shift/throttle lever, choke button on top and key switch on the back? If so it's pretty simple inside. the only tricky thing in that control is the little roller that clicks the control in and out of gear likes to fly out at you if you try to take it apart when it's not in neutral or shift out of neutral with it open. The first thing you should do is grab it and put it in a safe place. Sorry, no idea where the pics are, someone else should know...<br />Eric

Yea I remember that post. It was in one with a share my project link. I will see if I can find it also and get back with you. I don't think it goes much in detail about a rebuild thogh. Hey, thanks for the replies guys. I should have prefaced my original post with the background: it's a boat that's been sitting outside for 25 years; unused. So, the cables and most everything else needs a once-over.<br /><br />Eric; yes it's the control that you're describing. Black with Blue.<br /><br />Yeah Tim...you remember the post. I think he was painting it white; if I recall. Thanks for following it up for me.<br /><br />I'm hoping I can locate a good source for new cables and also for help in setting things back up at the engine end if I end up having to disconnect things there.<br /><br />I'm off to work; I'll check back here later.<br /><br />Chuck

Tengals<br /><br />You're restoration is nothing short of magnificent. Takes a Melbourne boy to show'em <br />And smart enough to find the world's best boat site too. Bit of a shame that you put so much effort into the old Merc only to find damaged cyl.

Yes! Thanks Tengals! You do one h*** of a restoration. I knew I'd seen your pics...but I couldn't find them.

I don't know if I'll need any more pics from you or not..I hope I won't need to go too deep...I basically want to open it up so as to remove the cables...and hopefully lube things up in there...
