Re: Whos taking on the memorial day madness?

I was out at one of the local lakes this morning. Got there about 9:30 and left around noonish or so. Wasnt busy when we got there, but the ramp was starting to pick up a bit when we recovered. On the way home, it was an almost solid line of campers, boats and seadoos headed up there. The earlybirds were already camped out on the beaches, the boat access only camping area was full, and the dock there was under "self reserve" (they had it roped off and buoyed to prevent others from using it) Other than that, I had fun. Wouldnt want to be there on Sunday or Monday though, as the Lake Patrol will be on the rampage.

I thought that was the normal forecast for pretty much the whole year:rolleyes:
At least it was when I was there:(

Nah, that's just a story that us Seattle folks tell to keep the Californians out... :p

Actually, Mid July to Mid September is usually pretty good... the rest of the time however, as I stated to some folks down here today.. if it isn't raining, it's a good day.

The weekend went great. Had the boat in the water straight from friday through monday. Nothing went wrong and I didn't see anyone doing anything stupid. Perfect weekend.

Got to the lake on Saturday, about 10:30 a.m. Did our pre-ready activities, (before the ramp), waited 2 minutes, backed down the ramp, fired right up, and hit the water running !!!!! :D

Ate lunch about 11:15, (we got right to the dock, with no hassles), had a nice lunch, and headed back out to swim/tube. Headed out about 5 p.m., figured that I'd have a long wait to load, BUT only waited about 5 minutes. Loaded right up and came home. :D

Smooth as silk !!!!!!!! ;)

I also had a great weekend! We had my Fiance's siblings out tubing all day Sunday... Everything on my new rig worked flawlessly.... With 6 on-board, 15 gal of fresh water, 52 gal of fuel, both inboard coolers filled, and all our gear, the heavy Hurricane did well with the Yamaha F150TXR. I still got 41.2 mph GPS @ 5600 rpm... I'm very impressed with this engine! I took this pic while floating on the tube... The lighting was awesome as the sun was going down...

Re: Whos taking on the memorial day madness?

Had a really good time this weekend. One day after supper at the campground we all went back to the ramp to do a bit of night fishing and that's when I forgot to put in the plug. I noticed it while the boat was still on the trailer - so I jump out of the car warning the passengers that we need to pull back out and I need to put the plug in.

Well that's when my seven year old commented "Dad you must be really drunk!" and I heard one of the fishermen nearby laughing so hard he fell of the dock in the water. :)

It was a wonderful weekend, it wasn't quiet at the campground but not crazy, the lake was not crowded but there were definitely lot's of people. The ramp took an average of ten minutes but everybody seemed to know what they were doing, definitely the smoothest I've ever seen. All this in California, go figure.
