Just a thought here tommays, the 2-15/16" is realy a 75mm shaft, if you have an ongoing maintenance schedual on this machine would it be better to have the main shaft machined to fit the gearbox, you would not have to pay for any further customising of the boxes in the future.

Re: Why American Companys Go Under

The gear box will last for at least 30 years :) are first mixer was made in 1948 and still runs everyday on the orginal gearbox :)

The mixer blades are placed in the bowl and then a dome is welded in place for sanitary reasons the 3" 316 SS shaft is ground to a 30 Ra finish with a left hand lock nut :) and for good measure its hollow to allow the other blade to counter rotate inside it :)

So unless you want to cut apart an 80,000 dollar tank you spend 9000 on new gearboxs and worry about it again when your 80

I am 51 and been started repiaring mixers in 1975 this is the first time a company that was still running has ever done something like this to us

I even get to buy a cool 400 dollar cutter because i need to shorten the 4 motor mounts 2-3/4" and then reweld them to fit the new parts :)
