Because Im a pirate born twohundred years too late. Its tough living 120 miles from the coast so I settle for the lakes or river alot!Im always mezmerized by the beauty and the power of the ocean when I can get there.Time slows or does'nt count when your on the water.

Re: Whay Are You A Boater?

I sold my first boat to buy an engagement ring. (Shoulda kept the boat). I promised myself after the divorce that I'd have another boat. got married this time, finally got to where I could afford a boat, and bought one. Both of my boys like to fish, so I bought a fish/ski. Kept it 7 months and got the NEW BOAT BUG. So I bought a new one. It's a perfect get away from cell phones (I hate them), the hustle and bustle of the world and just slow down and spend time, QUALITY time with my wife and kids. It's a release. I always feel better after a day on the water !!!!!

Adventure. Theirs something about being in a 17 foot boat when a fish the size of your house swims past.

Thank the Lord I fish in fresh waters.

And obviously never been in a little tinny when a 50 lb pike or musky takes a shot at the stringer of panfish hanging over the side.

Had to clean the boat after that.

Is it "boater" or "boatist"? One of my UK friends here says the proper term is "boatist".

One of my Iraqi friends here says the proper term is "target practice" ...but I digress.

Been there, done that ... a stringer of half a dozen 18+ inch walleye ... had my feet hanging in the water. Took them out seconds before the boat lurched! Watched in horror as the Monster Northern devoured our walleye!

Why am I a boater???

To fat to fly!! :D
LOL

I have a boat because I just gotta have a boat. I keep it in the garage so I can go out and pet it every so often...I love the coast, I love boats and I love to take my daughter out fishing and cruising. It's a genetic defect that runs in my family. ;)

Beautifully said. So, so true! :D
