It has nothing to do with anything other than pure economics.

If a news operation wanted to, they could fill all their pages or air time with brutal murders from around the country, white on white, black on white, white on black, etc. How many rapes and murders happen every day in America? I have no idea, but it's a lot.

So why is Paris Hilton facing 45 days in the LA jail warrant 24/7 coverage? It is because people want to watch it, it gets ratings, and brings in ad revenue.

It is called capitalism and free markets. Pure and simple.

I am under the impression that you were against capitalism before you were for it.... we need to keep the MSM flowing like a sewer so we can tax it and hand out more welfare!

Big day, big day. I agree with PW2 again . . . :D Dern capitalist MoFo.

Contradiction alert, contradiction alert: although this story would've brought ratings, it may in fact be too disturbing for the MSM. This story has been bugging me since I read it yesterday, it is a really horrible scene swirling in my head, and very hard to shake. When you think about it, it met a bunch of the ratings stuff: sex, lots of blood, gruesome, mutilation, kidnapping, race overtones, fire, torture; think about it, it is a gold mine, but they didn't do it. Also, the MSM is often accused of only tracking pretty white missing/murdered people, Jon Benet, Elisabeth Smart, Natalie Holloway. This story meets that too. I think they had a collective "this is just over the top" moment, and that may be a good thing . . .

Its a BAD DAY when real life is as bad or worse than any horror movie

But down under two teenage grils just got life for killing a friend just to see if they would feel remorse

My bet is they bounced it off a SPONSOR or two - probably the same as they do everything that airs - & it was nixed. TV programming is just filler between the commercials anyway.

I do agree that it was too gruesome for selling advertisement.
As far as double standards are concerned,I did not hear anything about it on FOX or Rush Limbaugh's talk show.So they too must have decided it was either too gruesome or just not news worthy

Why that is a ridiculous statement, and I have no idea how you came up with that. I can only assume it comes from the notion that because I argue for positions not generally associated with the radical right, it must make you think that I ascribe to values concocted by the radical right to anyone who disagrees with them.

I assure you if liberals were as Rush described, I wouldn't like them either. Unfortunately, Rush and his ilk prefer to take on pretend liberals of his invention, as they are easier to argue against than the real thing.
