yeah it can be an exclamation like "crikey mate don't sneak up behind me!" It's a mangled form of the word 'Christ!' I believe, but a bit more PC. All this talking about prawns has got me wanting some. BBQ prawns and beer, now you're talking.

I think it was said best in the movie "Patton"....that the English and Americans are a common people separated by a common language.<br /><br />You boys in Australia got yerselfs a great country there. Spent 7 days R&R in Sydney (sp?). Spent a lot of time just walking around and talking to the folks there. Very friendly people. Walked into a back street pub and three hours later damn near had to crawl out. Those ol' boys like their beer.....and since I was a foreiner, I couldn't hardly buy a one....
