I'm being honest......I think the reason you don't get many replies is because the honda repair man is much like the maytag repair man....nothing much to do, so not many of them!

Be patient and keep bumping your post up, someone will come along!

For a stator, see your local dealer.....he may even have used....or try E-bay

cj7,

People aren't ignoring you, most won't answer unless they have an idea.

There aren't nearly as many Hondas out there as with the other brands.

Follow Schematics advice, keep bumping up your post, someone will log on that may have an answer for you.

Good luck!

cj,
not much of a honda repairman or anything...but if i'm not mistaken, they changed the bf75 to the bf8 in 1985...which was an 8 hp version. (i think it was the same motor but the hp was rated differently after 1984)...
they began making the bf75 in 1974, and if the serial numbers started at 1, and there's a million before yours, i would guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 79-80.
course, this is just my opinion while you're waiting for a honda guy to read your post...

I see what you mean. I did search this forum. Found nothing... or not much.
I don't have any website with Honda serial numbers.

I tried yahoo.com and found this page:
http://www.twimarine.com/7_5hp_thru_8hp.htm
Try them.

Good luck!

/Bear

Its just like trying to find out if you have a dana 35c or a dana 44 in your case a 20. I would think it might be an 80 most of the older 4stoke blue motors have the same parts. Well no I take that back 80 stands for 8hp right round up 7.5? Play with the numbers could be a 86 year!

Hi
The "inspected" note on the japanese stuff usually stands for week/ year. I bet ist a 1980.

Any Honda dealer should have these coils.

It's a pain when you get off the beaten path. Takes longer to find what you need. Try any Honda dealer you can find. I went all over the state before finding an Eaton outdrive. It was a real needle in the haystack. Now all I gotta do is fix the boat...
