Why do I sit so low?

I've had a few people suggest moving it back some. The transom on this is pretty long, about half way towards the bow, so I would not gain that much. I'm going to remove the 40 first and see what that does.

I wanted to be able to use it at multiple places but this little guy just isn't outfitted for it. Oh well, I tried

Have you thought about sealing up the transom pod? I did it on mine and it added a few inches of flotation.

No. I guess I hadn't thought to do that. I figured its open for a reason so I shouldn't mess with it.

Regarding the engine pod: If water can get in (e.g., around where the motor mounts to it) and it can't get out, it just becomes an added weight. But, if you can seal it so well that water can't get in, it can provide flotation as was suggested. The question is, how well can you seal it and how difficult is that to do?

It's open in the front, top, and bottom rear. I'd have take it out of the water and pay someone $75/hr to weld it all closed. It's aluminum so parts & labor about $500.00. Not happenin.

When I replaced the wood I made it go all the way to the bottom and sealed it, then used plywood scraps to seal it up between the cross members. Nothing gets in unless its uncovered when it rains and then just use a towel ore spare bilge pump to empty it. All you need is plywood and silicone to do it. Cheap to try and see if it gives you the extra flotation you are looking for.
