All I know is 2006 is the year that kept popping up,..
And it is the year that some friends at the Merc plant in Fondy become not so Yamaha friendly,....I think some in Merc production at the time lost jobs,......
why not call mercury and get the scoop when the partnership actually ended?i know the small ones up to 30 hp are tohatsu and the 30 to 75,s were made in china and 75 up are now made in fondo.got info from wiki for what its worth.maybe it ended in 2006, but until merc could tool up and design motors they outsourced to yammy for a few more years?the original question is why do mercs rank so low and I believe its regional optics.anybody I know that owns a mercury product is totally happy with them.
