Hmmm? From all I have gathered QC, you would have been amongst the last I would have included in this catagory.

It was a challenge to treedancer. See above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Which I actually meant seriously despite the fun I was having with it.

the onion said it best::

"If Earth's species were meant to change over successive generations through physical modifications resulting from the adaptation to environmental challenges, then God would have given them the genetic predisposition to select mates and reproduce based on their favorable heritable traits and their ability to thrive under changing conditions so that these advantageous qualities would be passed down and eventually encoded into the DNA of each generation of offspring,"

Hmmmmm . . . well first, I thought the onion was always satirical, I don't know as I don't frequent it . . . second, my concern about the satire thing is that I would rewrite that statement with these few small changes and it would represent pretty much my beliefs on the matter, blue is new, red is gone:

"(If) Earth's species were meant to change over successive generations through physical modifications resulting from the adaptation to environmental challenges, (then) God (would have given) gave them the genetic predisposition to select mates and reproduce based on their favorable heritable traits and their ability to thrive under changing conditions so that these advantageous qualities would be passed down and eventually encoded into the DNA of each generation of offspring"

I honestly believe this is why we love the HOTD thread. The thing I can't figure out is why most of us like big boobs. It seems that big ones would slow my mate down if she was running from a saber tooth tiger, or Clinton for that matter . . .

After the boobs, the only thing left to figure out is who/what God is . . . priorities . . .

yes that was satire - sarcasm at it's finest.

boobs = food source for your newborn progeny, silly!

Little ones don't work? I have no 'sperience ;)

BTW, mine wasn't sarcasm, and I guess I miss the point of the satire as it is a plausible position and an often used example of those who think they know where the universe came from . . .

You must have had TacoBell for lunch!

DOVER (AP)- Two Taco Bell restaurants ordered to conduct sanitation and safety reviews because of suspected or confirmed case of E. coli infection were allowed to reopen Wednesday, state officials said.

The two restaurants, one on Concord Pike in Wilmington and the other in Chestnut Hill Plaza in Newark, passed re-inspections Wednesday by Delaware's Division of Public Health and completed the mandatory safety interventions.

On Tuesday, the two facilities also completed food safety training provided by DPH food safety inspectors. They will be allowed to operate with replacement employees from other Taco Bell locations until laboratory results on stool samples provided by their regular employees are received later this week, officials said.

The regional E. coli outbreak prompted the closure and inspection of all 15 Taco Bell locations in Delaware. The other 13 restaurants were allowed to reopen earlier after sanitization and the disposal of existing food supplies.

State officials have confirmed E. coli infection in a 15-year-old Elsmere girl who was hospitalized after eating at a Taco Bell restaurant in New Jersey, and a 21-year-old man who ate at the Taco Bell on Concord Pike.

Authorities also are investigating three suspected cases of E. coli infection involving people who ate at the two restaurants.

treedancer,

I believe I know what Boomer meant with his use of "lowest common denominator" (LCD (no, not a TV)). If the LCD is, oh lets say, a single cell then we can have no tests, no standards, no jobs that a single cell could not, pass, meet or fill. Please enlighten us as to the meaning you intended. Examples would be helpful.

Thanks.

[uThree examples--FEMA, Medicare, and Iraq-- should be sufficient to make this point.]

FEMA

They did not fail merely out of ignorance and inexperience. Their ineptness, rather, was active rather than passive, the end result of a deliberate determination to prove that the federal government simply should not be in the business of disaster management.

Upon assuming office, Bush turned to former aide Joe Allbaugh to run FEMA and then shifted it into the new department of Homeland Security.

Allbaugh, and his hand-picked successor Michael Brown, Long before Katrina destroyed New Orleans, Allbaugh and Brown were busy destroying FEMA. Privatizing the agency's programs, shifting attention away from disaster management, gleefully laughing as scores, of the most experienced staff left.

People cannot prevent disasters but they can prevent man made ones. That term is foreign to the ship of fools running the country now. They seem to have an ideological hostility toward any kind of competent management.

(Lowest common denominator =Disaster)

[uMedicare= prescription drugs for the elderly. ]

There were two paths open to the administration if they had been interested in creating an administratively coherent system of paying for the prescription drugs of the elderly. One was to give the elderly nothing and insist that every person assume the full cost of his or her medication. The other was to have government assume responsibility for the costs of those drugs.

So guess what this band of fools did? They refused to allow government to negotiate drug prices, thereby vastly inflating the costs. To make sure government agencies didn't administer the benefit, they lured in insurance companies with massive subsidies and imposed almost no rules on what benefits they could and could not offer.

Caught between the market and the state, this administration picked the worst features of each. It took the combined efforts of every faction in today's conservative movement to produce a public policy so removed from common sense.

(Lowest common denominator =Disaster)

[uIraq= Neocon were all for adventures abroad, and, in the aftermath of September 11,]

They won the president's support. But his pocketbook, was guarded by Rumsfeld.

Neocons wanted the Republican Party to live in the shadow of Henry "Scoop" Jackson. Rumsfeld insisted that military adventures be funded in the spirit of Robert A. Taft.

The conservative shout to the high heavens against government then rely on government to achieve their objectives, to me that smacks of hypocrisy of the highest order.

Then you have Rummy low-balling troop estimates in Iraq, to me that is criminal. Relying on government while refusing to pay for it.

He was hostile to the reconstruction of Iraq.Kinda reminds me of the administrations view of rebuilding New Orleans, but I digress. And his outright hostility towards Colin Powell, the only one in the administration the had seen hostile fire in his lifetime.

What incompetence, I better make this short I guess I could stay here all night and not come up with a Readers Digest version of what this band of fools has managed to bungle in Iraq.

1. [iTurning the management of Iraqi police forces over to private firms to the extent that Rumsfeld did, with catastrophic results.
2. Rumsfeld's hostility toward America's historic.
3. Rummy taking on a expensive war, but with the promise of being cheap and avoiding the loss of American lives. That dint work out to well did it?
4. I could go on, and on, but all you have to do is read the paper, and look up some old post it has been rehashed, over and over.]

(Lowest common denominator =Disaster)

Bonus examples.

The orgy of bribery and special interest in Congress is not the result of Tom DeLay's ruthlessness, as impressive a bully as he was. This conservative Presidency and Congress imploded, not despite their conservatism, but because of it.

Conservatism is a contradiction. Unable to shrink government but unwilling to improve it, conservatives attempt to split the difference, expanding government for political gain, but always in ways that validate their disregard for the very thing they are expanding. The end result is not just bigger government, but more incompetent government.

Lowest common denominator =Disaster)

Now you have hit the nail on the head td. Where is it written that I, through the Federal Government, have any direct responsibiliy for disasters that happen in another state?

Did you see that in the Constitution? You and your ilk are attempting to blame something on Bush that he has no real authority or responsibility for.

All the while, you excuse the clowns that had primary responsibility to minimize the disaster, abdicated that responsibility and then got re-elected by the deluded electorate (deluded by democrats I might add). Once again my point is being made.

pay attention boomyal, this is complicated: Louisiana is a state in the United States of America, of which President Bush is the President. So ya see, Louisianians have the same president as boomyal.

By taking charge (or attempting to take charge) of disaster relief in Louisiana, President Bush proved that you are wrong. I read treedancers excellent essay carefully and did not find any excuses there for any of the local clowns.

Well I read treedancer's diatribe as well, and I find nothing that resembles a response to my challenge. In fact I believe the whole thing is a non-sequitur when related to the usage of lowest common denominator (LCD), which was my request. Explain what the flip you meant, cause I don't get it.

I still believe that "seething detestation" sounds way too much like festering boil for the topic covered by this thread. With that said, I do understand how Boomer meant LCD and the relationship to liberal positions on many major topics. I thought I spelled it out well, but even confused Boomer. So much for my ability to be clear. However, I find nothing in treedancer's blistering commentary that is more than a "I know you are, but what am I".

If the question had been, why don't you like the current administration, the so-called "neo-cons" and "how 'bout that FEMA?", then OK it would be valid. But I asked what was his (treedancer's) use of LCD about, because I simply don't get it. Still don't.

It simply makes no sense to me that you believe conservatives want this country to be backward like the Taliban, which I thought was your LCD, but still made no sense. So I ask you to explain it and I get . . . uh . . . a rant. Sure you don't like some stuff, but let's use the english language since that's all we have here 'cept for smileys

As every man knows, "bigger is better". Luckily we've managed to convince women that "size doesn't matter."

The core subject of this post is not a troll, but the title is super shiny, has been covered in a substance that masks the human scent, and has been set to depth. The "Fishies" saw this one from a hundred feet and swam right for it...
