I have a 2001 Johnson 50 hp 2stroke that isnt listed on shop.evinrude.com, or any of the other sites.

the model number is very easy to read on the tag on the motor.

the tags number is
J50VLSIF

they dont list a model with the V for 50 hps!!!

they list a J60VLSIF...

the motor has the hydraulic ASSIST feature , not TNT....

they list several other models with the V...

does anyone know the V designation??

might it just be a WHITE motor??

curious about it ...

Hi Bob. Yesterday I called this number to find a model number for an engine that only had the welsh plug number and the fellow was very helpful. I am sure he will be able to help you as well. Best of luck. Rick.

"V" in that position in the string means "Special Gearcase". OK, next question is what makes it special? I don't know the answer to that one. Hey, you got a race motor there, with a "quicky" lower unit???

Leave out the F and punch the model number into google, lots of references.

funny, it doesnt have power TNT, it has that hydraulic ASSIST feature that takes most of the weight off and makes it very easy to tilt and trim the motor by hand, and you can lock it in any postion with a throw of a lever.

but that is what you get from NADA.....i have found them to be wrong a few times.....

ill google and see what happens
