I backed the boat off the trailer and docked at the courtesy dock so I could go park the truck. I was alone this time.<br /> Basically I jumped out with the line that I had thought secured but it was not DOH. So a nice Family on another boat 30 yards away heard me yell help. Good thing they got me to boat I was already prepared to dive in after it!!!<br /><br />I would like to thank those folks for rescueing me.<br /><br />Anyway after that I was prepared for another thing to happen. I guess losing the Fedora twice doesn't count eh?<br /><br />What I want to know is who did I make so mad that everytime I go boating its a STH?

okay, one thing you should know is that's how pro's launch. At least, I heard it from a reliable source (the internet) that on the pro bass tour they just unhook the (unmanned) boat, back it in & tap the brakes. Then somebody launches with a driver & delivers 8 or 10 of 'em to their boats.<br /><br />Other thing is, losing the hat doesn't really count (as long as you recover it) since it happens so often to everybody.<br /><br />Feel better now?

Does the comment about the big orange PDF count?<br /><br />And yess I am so used to them from when I was a kid it does not get in the way. Altough I look a lot fatter than I am in it. Sorry no pics I was alone!!!

The ramp I use most often doesn't have cleats on its courtesy docs, just the pipes that hold the dock in place. I finally resorted to using heavy duty bungee cords to tie up. Since I often boat solo, they save me a lot of time. Just run the cord around the pipe and hook both ends on the boat's cleats. Haven't lost the boat yet.

I missed the "big orange" comment, but, much as I hate to discourage people wearing their PFD's, I think you can get SHT credit for actually wearing one. Posting a pic of yourself in one might even be a RSHT (Really Stupid Human Trick). <br /><br />Brings up an interesting question, though: if you do a Stupid Human Trick and no one's around to watch, is it still stupid?

Solo launch perfected (sorta).<br /><br />Saw on Ship Shape TV the technique where you tie the rope from the cleat to the trailer winch post. This worked great until I left too much slackline and boat floated (almost) into the boat waiting to pull away. I got to go for a swim when I ran down dock to grab boat before it hit and lost balance <br /><br />Technique is flawed in shallow water ramps with no docks...ended up to my crotch in ice cold water to untie rope from winch....so modification had to be made..<br /><br />I have now perfected the "tie the rope to the truck bed cleat with tailgate down" method. Once boat is floating...climb (like a monkey) from the front seat to the back seat...open back door...climb onto bed (you can use rear tire to assist if need to)...untie rope and climb back up the truck until you can land on dry ground. Voila - no frozen nuts!!!!<br /><br />I want to believe that the spectators are smiling and laughing at my creativity..but they are probably just laughing at me.. <br /><br />-JustMrWill

Uh what the heck are those Yankees and Red Sox?<br /><br />There is only 1 season runs from August to january and thats Football. I don't really care for baseball played it but don't, can't watch.<br /><br />Now JB I know I made somebody mad Ibetter never ever lauch the boat again. The wife would be thrilled.
