Some people just ignore the obvious and others try to dispell it. ;)
How about a new signature? There are two kinds of people: Those who Count and those who don't :D

My votes are for Stabil or its a brand of red oil for premix. It's been so long since gas was tinted red that it should have dried up by now! :)

Maybe it's because Canada dyes their marine fuel red.... just like the topic starter stated.

Re: why would gas be red??

Since we are on the topic......can you buy marine fuel in the states??? Up here, or at least in B.C., I don't know about the rest of Canada, when you buy a litre of gas (currently $1.13/L or $4.46/Gallon) you have to pay approx 12 cents in a "road tax". This money is supposed to be used to upgrade and maintain our roads. There are some gas stations (usually the bulk stations that companies with truck fleets use), that sell gasoline for use other than on the road. These uses can be for off roading in an ATV, for farm machinary, or of course for a boat. You do not pay the road tax on your gasoline purchase when you buy it for this purpose, but they do dye it to identify it. This is to prevent people from using the cheaper, dyed gas in their cars or trucks. Supposedly the police can but a tester strip next to your exhast to tell if you are burning the dyed gas..............but I have never known anyone who has had this done to him. Like I said before......because of the inconvience, I have only bought dyed gas once before, and it never even occured to me when I originally asked the question, that the gas might be dyed. I feel silly for not thinking about it, but I am amazed at how much attention this thread has gotten.

Well I hope that clears up any confusion............and once again, thanx for reading.

BTW, All curency mentioned in this post is in Canadian dollars.
