What causes my carbs to spit fuel out of the carb throat? It's a '92 70 hp evinrude.

sounds like your floats sticking open, causing your bowl to fill up too much[more than your motor can burn]and spit fuel back out the throat,i suggest a carb kit and cleaning

Thats a classic symptom of a reed problem,if the engine isnt running on that cyl,you might want to pull the carbs and the intake to inspect the reeds,it a low $$ thing, just gaskets and a reed set if its bad.

Agree with the reeds. My 50 Evinrude would idle terribly, and spit out upper carb. I removed reed block, and shined a flashlight behind plate. I instantly seen 3 of 8 reeds on upper carb were partially blocked. I removed reeds, carefully inspected/cleaned, and reinstalled them. What a difference that made. They werent damaged, just the seats were dirty.
