Well..
The economy has caught up to my house..
Diane's last day is Nov 18th...

Really is a terrible time, but when is it a good one?
Her severance package will keep things as was for a few months, but 2011 will be a challenge...

Thank God for what we have, and realizing what we really dont need..

i'm sorry to hear that to cbk. i hope she can find something.

putting it mildly, this economy sure has many folks in a pickle. me included. my small biz is hanging on by a thread and that wasn't true untill the bottom fell out of the economy...

2011 will be a challenge...

i got a bad feeling it's gonna be longer than 2011. it's taken us years to get to this point. it's gonna take years to get out of it.... the landscape is changing too. were not gonna be who we were when this is over.. scary to say the least..

the economy is great, just look at the postings and executive bonus packages the companies we(the US taxpayer) on now.
seems like the more things changed, the more they stayed the same.
sorry about the layoff thing but it could be an oppertunity.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. My mother in law was laid off the day after she closed on her house (2 weeks ago). Her situation is a little different than most as she is a nurse and there are always openings in her field (if you can land one).

Her old job intentionally waited until the day after her closing to lay her off so she wouldn't lose the house I'm not sure if they were doing her a favor or not. Only time will tell.

Sorry Kev, I hope things work out for the better, my business is treading water fortunately but we have had to lay people off to get there. Tough times are upon us all hopefully an end is coming and the economy will pick up.

Sorry to hear that Kev. These uncertain times are getting to be wearing on everyone. There are many who sense the Sword of Damocles hanging over their head.

I am a firm believer that if the Powers that be just quit gumming up the works and let the water seek it's own level, that things will get better quicker.

One consolation for the Mrs is that you live in FLA where the weather is nice. It would be an extra PITA to be laid off in the gloomy winter weather.

Thanks guys...I know many of you are going through even tougher times and I ain't crying by any means..

The job market here in Ft. Myers is terrible, but she has been given a LOT of leads and referrals from inside her network.

She sold ads and did Customer Service work for the apartment magazine you see in stores and take for free, where apartment communities advertise their properties.
Been with them for 6 1/2 years...Poured her soul into her job and ran the office when HER boss went out on maternity leave, in all honesty she should be running the Territory, but sometimes things are stacked against you.

I told her to take a rest, she needs a break emotionally.. I have been trying to be as nice as I can, bought her a hour massage at the local spa..Trying to let her know I am her to support her and keep her self image intact..

That's awful to hear that after 6 1/2 years she lost her job through not fault of her own. It shows just how bad the economy really is, and from what I've read it could get worse. Things are not great here in Canada, but I think we are a bit better than you guys, or banks didn't go broke....

But....unfortunately the reality is the whole world is in bad shape, and discussing it here on these forums makes the mods shut it down.

I do hope your wife is successful in finding employment....Good Luck

Kevin, Sorry to hear about this, I know how you feel. My wife lost her job just before Christmas last year and has just worked her first full week since. she managed to keep unemployment for most of that time. She spent many hours looking for work in her field, there was nothing for a long time and jobs she did apply for she was over qualified for or the pay was about half what she was making. I hope that Diane has better luck, tell her to go check out the leads that she has quickly she may even be able to land a job and keep going. Good luck to you and Diane. It will get better.

Well, as things start to turn around, advertising will be on the upswing. One of the first places they spend money, when they feel there is money to make. Good luck to her.

My wife has been out of work for 13 months, and we're feeling the pinch for sure. Not much opportunity for her here now, except for part time temp work.

Sorry to hear that Kev. It always bugs me to hear about people or communities not on the upswing due to the economic times I know you folks are facing. On a personal note, stick together, keep the family binds tight, keep your priorities straight, keep swinging and you will rise over this and keep going.

We've actually been in the same boat since the end of '09. My fiancee decided that it was best just to get into a different field entirely so she went back to school for the next 2 years.

I found that it helps a lot to find hobbies that don't cost money.
