Re: Wife: "You did WHAT...?!!!"

Well Brandon, the launch date may be delayed significantly depending on how much we find wrong. Also, I'll need to find an appropriate trailer. Lets just HOPE for a 2011 splash.

The wife should be happy. A much deeper discount than the last pair of shoes she bought I'm sure :)
Her quote: "The LAST thing we need is another boat.":)
When I first told her, she didn't believe it. Even after showing her pictures she thought I was kidding! I had to pull out the title before it really sunk in.
She's actually OK with it and my daughter is thrilled because we have a lot of great memories of her growing up on the old Nova.
Shes now 21 but started boating at only 4 months.

<$750 for that? Wow, you're a thief.

For that price, who cares if the motor runs. Just yank and sell the 350 and the Alpha. Then replace it with a 454 & a Bravo 1 and you'll be running mid to upper 50's in no time. 60 plus if you take the time to trick out the big block.

My wife said you stopped by her shop today, with the boat in tow! She sent me a pic from her phone. Sorry I missed you Rob.

Well, it looks like my positive thinking helped :D;):D

Glad to hear that the mechanic got it running already!! And I will continue to keep my eye open for a trailer just in case I stumble upon something.

I hope this new boat means that we get to see you out on the water more this year!! (as long as work doesn't get in the way again!)

you should be ashamed!
Yeah, I know. I just couldn't help myself:)

Scott, my mechanics shop is not far down the road from your place. Hopefully you'll see the new ride before too long.

Brandon- I'm sure it helped!! I'm putting in my vacation notices in January this year. And YES if you find a trailer let me know. A fixer-upper is fine but I'd need 4500# capacity and brakes on both axles.

The GOOD news- the engine is indeed A-OK! my guy had to smack the starter a few times to wake it up but otherwise it's got good compression in all cylinders, decent oil pressure and no knock, even when cold. At first, the carb was leaking raw gas out of the top but after a couple minutes seemed to be alright. Idles nice and throttles up properly. The outdrive seems OK too- shifted fine and the bellows look good. Not too bad for 3 years dormant!
I'll need to do the normal service stuff (tune-up, hoses, belts, impeller) and will probably get the carb and u-joints rebuilt/repalced. WHEW what a relief! :) The hour meter works and shows 377 hours.

The NOT so good- as I suspected, the stringers need some work. I was planning to open 'em up and check them, but my mechanic is pretty talented with this kind of repair and gave me a reasonable price. I'll have to see how much more cash I can shake outta that money tree.....but I need a trailer first.

Got the boat home this afternoon and started jacking it off the rental trailer. What a PITA. Had to stop because of the dark. I'll get it done tomorrow and return the trailer. Hopefully it'll be easier to put a trailer under her when the time comes.

Here's the new home- next to the jonboat, the silver kayak shed and SeaDoo. Can't have too many toys, right????

Hey THANKS. Don't know why I didn't think of that! :)

CT is a far drive, but there is a trailer on the local CL. I'm not sure what the deal is with trailer papers and registering them as home made, but this one has actually tempted me, just to have on hand!

BTW very very nice purchase!

Thanks and yeah, that trailer does has potential. From the pictures I don't think it's rated for 6000# though. Ct isn't too far away- if the price is right.
Maybe if he's got it next month I can pick it up for 200!;)

He probably will. I am always looking out for deals on trailer, so I will let you know if I see anything worth grabbing!!

Also getting a roller trailer under a boat on stands, takes my father and I about 15-20 minutes.

arks, you should be ashamed of yourself and arrested for theft in the first degree! ;) Starter temp frozen was the problem ... from sitting ... some people just fall into them sometimes ...

Good job, and congrats on your find!
