Re: Wife's 2nd attempt to burn our house down...

They have recently started making AFCI breakers - arc fault circuit interupter. They kill the power when it senses an arc, as a GFCI would when it sense water.

It doesn't senses water.....It detect a current imbalance between the hot and neutral wire. Under normal condition, these two would be equal. GFI would trips at a different of 4mA or higher.

Some have made AFCI's code in bedrooms, but not here...yet. I've heard some negative talk about the AFCI's not worth the cost.

Yeah, it can be a pain in the arse to keep having to go reset the breaker. Although, my mom's house main breaker panel have a bunch of them and she haven't had any problem so far. It requires to have them in new construction around here.

...several people have mentioned to me about using upside down plugs...

This only helps if things fall and the device plugged in has a gound plug, most home items do not. Such as the case here as the toaster was plugged in at the time, no ground.

...And in this case, the tape measure came from underneath....

Thanks for telling us that. It is hard, especially for a 13 yr old, to quote exactly what dad told me a year and a half ago.

Hang in there kid, I know 13 seems like you have been alive forever... and from your view, you have, but you are just on the brink of starting to think for yourself... us old fogies call it "the rebellious teens"... run with it.

Listen to you dad and mother, but always question what you hear. Spend as much time researching the world as you spend here at Iboats, not just stories that foster your own beliefs, but contrary opinions.... try reading Rushes younger brothers column. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/archives.asp?AUTHOR_ID=10 just for a different perspective.

But first and foremost, always remember that your world view will change as you age.... age gracefully

K Eric?.
