Yes, it does. It means wireless fidelity. It was never supposed to, but when the Wi-Fi alliance used it in their initial advertising slogan, pretty much that's it. It does now.

The Wi-Fi Alliance initially used an advertising slogan for Wi-Fi, "The Standard for Wireless Fidelity"

Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia.

Fidelity has ZERO meaning when it comes to Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi sounds a lot like "hi-fi," thus it is mistaken to stand for "wireless fidelity."

802.11n, 802.11g... are the actual standards the define the protocols as defined by the IEEE.
