No it doesn't. It is simply a registered trademark of the Wi-Fi Alliance.

Yes, it does. It means wireless fidelity. It was never supposed to, but when the Wi-Fi alliance used it in their initial advertising slogan, pretty much that's it. It does now.

The Wi-Fi Alliance initially used an advertising slogan for Wi-Fi, "The Standard for Wireless Fidelity"
