Will 1992 50 hp Powerhead fit on 1986 50 hp

[coolhuh]

I have a 1986 Force 50 hp with a bad powerhead. I found a good 1992 Force 50 hp powerhead, will it interchange with the 1986?

Im not sure but I was just reading a thread about someone doing the same thing and the cables didnt connect the same and the electrics are completely differant.

I think in 1990 mercury had already taken over force and were inter grading merc parts on them. The block might be the same as Jeremy90bay was saying the rest of it might be different.
