According to Mercruiser's engineering department, the engines are purchased from GM, complete with accessories.

Sorry I'm new to this sight and am unable to start a new thread.
I have a 1990 4.3l mercruiser that I just got really hot. I have a banging on the left bank and I'm sure I've cracked a head. From my reading it sounds like a GM 4.3L should work to replace this. I have a quote for 1,100 for a STARFIRE reman... QUESTIONS: Heads are they the same? can I put in a newer 4.3l say a 2000yr, some engine sights quote 50 more horse power just going to a 4 barrel carb, Is that possible? Anything I need to watch for????
