Will I have to remove my sterndrive again to adjust my lower cable?

I replaced my lower cable this last weekend, but was unclear on the process of adjusting the cables. Therefore I set the bellcrank at 90 degrees to the face of the unit, put my control unit in the neutral position and adjusted the upper half of the lower shift cable accordingly before buttoning it all down.

I am still trying to figure out why my boat dies every time I shift it into gear, but I suspect I am out of adjustment. Will I be able to correct this from inside the boat, or am I looking at having to remove the sterndrive again and make adjustments down there as well?

This is a 2.3 Ford Motor on an OMC Cobra outdive.

Thank you.

We already answered that question in your other thread. Since you unplugged the ESA and you boat still dies when shifting, it isn't your cable adjustment.

I would just keep all your questions which are on the same topic in one thread so we aren't all hopping back and forth between the two.

Aside from the stalling I am worried if my gears are going to shift smoothly when I do get the boat to go into gear. This is after reading countless warnings about how the gears can easily be destroyed if the adjustments aren't right.

But as you suggest I will keep this all in one thread from now on.
