Will it fit?

I have a 1984, 85 hp Force engine.
It is none thru hub exhaust type.
15 splines 13 x 19 Pitch

I did not post in the prop forum as I am not looking for performance advice.

I need a new (or another) prop. Will a thru hub exhaust one with the correct number of splines work properly?

There have been several on that E --- site but I did not bid as I did not
want to waste money.

I am looking for stainless and simply cannot afford a new one.

I have the exact same motor and just went through what you are going through.

I was told that some thru hub propellers will work and some thru hub propellers will work with modification. I personally tried about 6 propellers with the right amount of spines. They did slide onto the shaft, but did not fit good enough to my liking. I ended up buying the below prop.

Where the prop fits into the back of the gearcase is smaller than the thru-hubs for the competition. Many can be machined down to fit. Appropriate Force thru-hubs would work. But later years used Merc gearcases and those would need machining.

Why do they cost so much. Must be that supply and demand thing.
Can't run the boat without one, so they have the supply. :-(

Why do they cost so much? Because stainless is one of the most miserable bitches to machine. It is composed of primarily Chrome and Nickel. Did you ever try just drilling it? Wears out drills fast. Much higher pour temperature results in fast mold wear also. Wears out machine tools too. So: somebody has to pay for the extra cost of manufacturing.

Ok, well, I was a machinist and I know about the machining of the stainless and such. That explains why they are more expensive, although I still think overkill.

But what about the easy to machine, easy to form, and easy to melt, aluminum?

My comment more was why is any propeller so much money?

Easy, they have them, we need them.

True true....I tried running my boat without the prop and the dang thing wouldn't go anywhere at all if it weren't for the wind and tide.
