I should gte this out of the way before getting my motor back on the boat. I had to swap control boxes as the cables for the new motor were way to long, i was able to re use my shift and throttle linkage and re routed the ignition and kill switch up to the dash. However i was unsure what to do with the neutral safety switch, so i pulled it, and hooked the wire ends together, now it will not crank, the choke will not even work, i can turn the ignition on and jump start it, it will shut off with the key as well. i am understanding that the switch should be closed when in neutral, allowing the power to run through, did i screw up some how?

You mis-wired something while moving the key switch. Put the neutral switch back in the starter circuit for your own safety.
