Before going any further you will need to install a clear fuel filter between the fuel pump and the carb inlet. It doesn't have to be an expensive one. You can just get one from W-mart G-2 model or smaller as long as the tube connections are the same size as the your existing fuel hoses. After installation, do the regular starting procedures, i.e. pump the primer bulb, put the control lever in fast idle, push-in the key for choke and start the motor. Observe the clear fuel filter make sure it stays full or at least 3/4 full. If the motor dies, report the status of the clear fuel filter.

Up date : I was at the lake camping when all this went on with my motor. I had the boat in the water and I started it up in high idle and put in gear real fast. The motor went to high rpm and ran good as long as was going fast. The next day i did the same thing and when i stopped it idled just fine the rest of the day. I think some trash is some where. I will try the clear hose next time. I hope it don't happen again. thanks for all help.

The suggestion above for a secondary clear fuel filter between the fuel pump outlet and the carb inlet is not only indispensable for troubleshooting fuel related issues but also serves as a back up filter. And the best part of it, it costs less than $5 to do it.

More than likely some rubbish caught in your needle and seat, next time it does it, give your carbies a good clean out, that's after you put in the filter between your pump and carbies.
