I have a 1980 mercruiser 228 sitting in a searay. Last week the boat was running alittle rough and the batteries needed replaced. I replaced the spark plugs and batteries and the boat would not start. Everytime I turn the ignition key to start, it clicks but nothing else. I followed another thread by Don S. on tracing the starting issues. I found a few loose and corroded wires and also found the slave soleniod needed replaced. After replacing the slave solenoid, the boat still does not start but there is also no clicking. If I put the old solenoid back on, the click is back but that is all. I am stuck as to what this could be. Any suggestions would be amazingly appreciated!!
