It looks like it will to me. I have a 5 bhp OB on a 14 ft. aluminum and it planes, so I think that thing will although it may be slightly heavier . . .

I am a little skeptical. Looks to me like this boat was contructed with stability in mind. After looking at the hull design I think it would take an act of god to get that thing swimming on "top" of the water.

Its a Livingston hull type boat tender. It has basically two hulls for stability which don't have a lot of flat surface for planing..it more or less knifes through the water

What Scaaty said.

It would plane with enough HP. Five isn't anywhere near enough HP, and enough HP might sink it.

Looks like a fun and stable puttering boat, though.

I have a 6hp mercury that I would put on it, if it won't plane do you have any idea of how fast I could get it going with a 6hp, I checked it out and it feels very solid it is fiberglass and wood I would say its between 100-150lb but that is quite a rough estimate...as it was tied to the side of a boat when I looked at it

looks like a grocery getter for a bigger moored boat. i think it would be a stable fun little craft. this reminds me saw a lady in a 2 person kayak, the front was loaded with grocery bads, going out to her boat.

Looks to me like it has chines in it to help it get on plane.

Yes. 1.35 x the square root of the waterline length would yield your max speed in knots...(regardless of engine size)

This will sound like a commercial, however when i invented Smart Tabs it was for a 10' dingy with a 9.9 hp. I still have the boat (soft bottom inflatable) and it will do 19 knots with two people (one 220 Lb (me) and one 115 Lb (wife) forward. It stays on plane at 7.5 mph. Your hull is more efficient because it is rigid. I would guess that the boat will plane at 7 to 8 MPH, and top out at about 15 knots with a 5 or 6 HP, and our ST780-20 Tabs. For sure it will plane, and we do guarantee our performance claims. HP is not the ultimate answer.

Have fun!
