What engine is in the hull now?
The engine will move the hull, will it bolt up to the rest of the drive train, gear ratio of the drive?

Re: will this engine be adequate?

i'm on my 2nd chevy 250 (mercruiser 165hp).
one was in a 16' trihull. best we did then was getting 2 slolum skiers + one on 2 skis up. total three from deep water start. 17p prop. 2 peoples in the boat.

i've not tested the pulling power in my 19' boat i've got now. but i have no doubts it would perform similar. i run a 19p prop on it (boat in my sig) and it just jumps out of the water from dead still. my boat is kind of a light boat though. maybe 2K lbs round abouts.

my dad used to like to call his engine (the one in the 16'er) his tractor engine. they are torquey engines from my experience..

may depend on how heavy your boat is....

will this engine http://eastnc.craigslist.org/boa/2039173328.html have enough power for a 19' silverline aruba? I don't need to fly, but I do need to have enough power to pull tubes and wakeboards and get to different fishing spots. Thanks for the input
I think you'll be fine. One consideration between a 6 and V8 is weight.
Sure, a 5.0 or 5.7 is more powerful, but also adds ~200 lbs to the boat, which partially cancels the power gain.

I know they are not the same motor but I have a 4 cylinder 170hp mercruiser in a 21' oal open bow and I pull a tube with a adult on it with 3 in the boat just fine. I can hit 40mph and cruise around 25 - 30 mph all day with 6 adults. great torque from that little 4 banger! Good luck.
