Will this engine be big enough?

I'm looking at a Hurricane 228RE deckboat that has a 125hp Merc outboard on the back. This is the pontoon style deckboat. My question is will this motor be big enough for a boat this big? Anyone have a boat with this size motor? I'm 255lbs and I want to make sure this boat could still pull me up on skis with my wife and kids on the boat. What do you guys think?

to be honest i would be skeptical. what is the max hp the boat is rated for. 70% of the max hp, is what is consider absolute minimum, for a decent performance of a boat. 22 feet is a lot of boat for a 125hp.

70% of 200hp is 140hp, which is the minimum. i think i would pass on it.

do your homework before buying a boat and our opinons are ok to listen to but they are just opinons,
The boat you are looking at doesnt weigh as much as a typical 22 ft class boat, almost have the weight compared to most 22- 23 ft boats.
Some of the 228 boats you are looking at even have 115 hp motors on them.

that boat has a 12 person capacity, adults that is 1800 - 2400 lbs. 125hp with that load, will have a problem planing.

unless you have 12 kids it will pull you up,
I have a 2000 plus pound boat with a 2004 mercury 125 saltwater and we have no problem skiing or tubing.
