Will this Lower-unit fit my 70hp Merc?

I have been struggling to find a good used lower-unit to put on my 1989 70hp Mercury outboard. A guy has a 1996 75hp Force with a bad cylinder. Will the lower-unit form this motor fit my engine. The style and housing is similiar to those of current model Mercury's. It would be a steal for $150. <br /><br />Thanks for any help.

I don't belive so but you can go to the BAM Marire site and compare numbers of the two units

Thanks, Laddies.<br />It sure wouldn't fit. It just has the same looking housing.
