Will this lower unit interchange?? 40hp Evinrude

I have 2 40 HP Evinrudes one has a blown powerhead and the other has a seized lower unit. I would like to know if I can interchange these lower units?

One with the blown lower is E40TLEUC (1997) and the one I want to use the lower unit from is a TE40ELCEC (1989)..

Go to www.shop.evinrude.com and compare part numbers for the gearcase, driveshaft, etc. If they match up, the lowers are probably compatible.

Be aware, however, that BRP has some superceded part numbers for the same parts, so a different number doesn't always mean its a different part.

You might also want to ask for some advice from an authorized OMC/BRP repair shop or dealer.
