hello all.

here is the setup i am opting for to tow my 19.5 bowrider

Car: 1996 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2 v6 4500lb towing capcity- Did not come with hitch so i have been searching

Hitch- this is the one i found online its the first trailer- the one i am looking at is the first one its a draw tite, im curious why it costs less then the 3rd one listed when the third one only has 3500 Lb weight distribution....

http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-1996_Isuzu_Rodeo.htm

Class 3 5000lb towing and 5000lb weight distribution

Boat is approximiately 2800lbs

trailer is ??????? Lb

i fugure whole sutup cannot be more then 4000lbs with everything possible loaded on boat

Do you think this will be okay??

the first one shows it has more towing but the third one has what looks like a bumper mount........you would think that should give it more towing..at least more tongue weight.

it looks like it will do fine......although you will have to be careful while braking with that kind of load behind a light suv.

Re: will this setup suffice???

I had an '03 Rodeo pulling a 17' aluminum bass boat and braking was the issue. It was rated for 4500' and I wasn't pleased pulling less than 2500 lbs. The boat package had to weigh less than 2000 pounds and had no trailer brakes. I sold it and bought a pickup.

If your trailer doesn't have brakes on it, I dont recommend you pull it with your vehicle. Period. And get the hitch with the higher rating too.

Get a standard frame mounted Class III weight distributing hitch.

Find a local hitch shop and just have them mount it, it is not that expensive. If you can't find a trailer hitch shop, try a large Uhaul dealer.

Edit, I say hitch shop, cause although they are relatively easy to install in most instances, it could take you all day, and there is always something that doesn't work right. They install hitches, and do it everyday, I think I paid $200 for mine installed including a free Ball and receiver. Stick with 2".
