will this work?

I have a 2.9m inflatable with a Mariner 8hp, it will plane with just me in it but when a 2nd person gets in it won't quite plane. We only use it in calm/river conditions. If I deflated the inflatable keel partially or fully this would make it more flat bottomed and therefore surely easier to plane 2 up?
Anyone tried this before?

Wouldn't the bottom lose some efficiency due to floppy stuff?

If my inflatable keel is flat, it is harder for me to get on step, and my top speed is slower (15.5ft with 25hp).

Sometimes temporarily shifting the weight to the bow is enough to help get up on step. Once you're up, weight can be shifted back to normal and you will remain on step.
