Are they pretty much standardized or are they specific to the winch?

The hand hold part of my winch handle has broken and I want to replace it.

Re: Winch handles

Kinda tough to answer, really. What brand of winch? Where did the handle break,...just the plastic or the metal rod in it?

There's always a solution, but I've never actually seen winch parts at any marine store. They may be available, but I've never seen them. If it were me, I'd probably figure out a way to make a new handle, using a long carriage bolt as the axle for the handle. But, that's just me.

Heck, if I didn't like that answer, I'd just head down to the local Harbor Freight or Northern Tool and buy a brand new winch, with a brand new strap. In fact, I could use a new strap this season.

But, without more info, it's hard to answer your question.

CAT..I saw that. Thanks. That very ad is what prompted my question. I have to go home and see who makes my winch before I send I-Boats my $10.95 +s&h:)

If your winch handle has a square hole like the one in the picture, I'm willing to bet that it'll do just fine. Otherwise, you'd see a bunch more replacement handles than that listed.

Funny thing is that I can buy an entire new winch with a 1200 lb. rating for about $20. Expensive part. How's the rest of your winch looking?

other than the lengths of those i think there pretty standard for what i noticed looking for mine.

everyone had those when i needed one! but try getting one for a 2 speed winch :/ not so easy, locally.
