So yeah, I've had these plans to go fish Eagle Lake before the season ends on the 31st. I've never fished it this late and was really looking forward to it. However, the weather in Northern California has been unusually dry and I decided to get one major summer project done instead. My theory is that instead of spending every weekend working on the fences I'd knock it out now and fish every weekend of the summer. Am I nuts thinking it's actually going to work out that way and did I just blow a good fishing trip. I guess time will tell. It sure is feeling good knowing that one major project is about to be scratched from my list. If I go Steelhead fishing early Saturday morning that might help make amends with the gods. I could offer up some sort of sacrafice maybe.. Got any ideas..

This is just for fun obviously but I really did do this. Please forgive me I won't ever do it again.

Go rent a tractor with an auger and buy some premade sections of fencing. Get a couple 30 packs and lure some friends in with the beer and make them work. Should be able to get out by Thursday. :D

Go fishing. Where you live you can work on the fence anytime. :)

Oh man, I wish I could get a tractor in where the fence is. The hill side is a 30% grade and I almost lost my old backhoe back there when I dug the ditch. I don't mind a challenge but I think I'll save those for times when I really need them. LOL...I did think about offering a free gym membership with a free trainer. I know my abs are a lot tighter after moving 8 yards of dirt and hand mixing concrete this week. I got the corner footing set yesterday. It's the keystone and now I can get moving. With a little luck there will be a few less fish in the lake on Saturday.

LOL, yeah rub it in. But wait, it gets better, I get a break from the fence tomorrow, I have a Dentist appointment.

So here's a funny one. I go to Home Depot to get 40, 80lb bags of 4000 psi concrete. I ask them for a pallet and tell the guy to go get a forklift. He tells me he can't load it in my car because it's too much weight, I'll have to rent the Home Depot truck. So I looks him straight in the eye and say, "Seriously, you think I brought my car knowing I was buying 3200 lbs of concrete." He say's well sir, I'll have to see your vehicle before I can load it. So I said "Seriously, you think I'm loading this in my vehicle, it's only rated for 2400 lbs but it will tow 12,000 no sweat and I brought my low boy, do you know what a low boy is". He said "No sir". Well at that point I could see there was no point in continuing so I paid for the lumber I had and went down to the local landscapers yard and got my concrete. Paid .12 cents more a bag for the same stuff but they never even muttered anything stupid so I didn't mind paying a little more. Dang I wish they had lumber.

Fence is done, going Steelie fishin on the Smith River Saturday morning. Waiting to hear from a buddy about drifting it. He's a guide and is pretty well booked this time of year. If we can't hook up I'll fish it from the bank. I'm getting too old to try and back bounce that river by myself. The Russian River I'll do but I don't know the Smith that well.
