Hello guys, I recently went through complete power head rebuild on my 96 112 johnson. Last time I was out was approx mid Nov and motor ran great. Motor is in level driveway and what Ive been doing is starting and running it about once every other weekend on flush muff. Now it rarely gets below 50 in so cal, and I anticipate my season starting bout march (or poss sooner) Is this a good idea for off season newly rebuilt storage???
Doubt there is much carbon build up and Ive greased every area and fitting I can find.,,, Thanks,, Joe

If you run the motor every other weekend there is no need to winterize the powerhead. I presume you have already gone through the break-in schedule for your rebuild. If you haven't, you need to follow that in regard to what you are doing.

In a colder climate, a critical thing to do is change the lower unit oil and also make sure the lower unit is stored in the down position. This is to prevent cracking the lower unit due to the potential of some water being inside. You don't have that problem but you should change the lower unit oil at the end of the boating season regardless of climate.
