I would imagine that the high rise manifold that you have spoken of actually raises the height of the Weber? If so, I will have to wait until I get the boat back this spring to measure space available to do this..

I thought the ban on carbed engines refered to 2 strokes outboards, not 4 stroke inboards.

Merc told me "96" was a transition year. I could have either the flat tappet OR the roller cam. I measured the length of a push rod and determined I have a flat tappet cam. BUT, there's a story to be told here. I was in the process of measuring my clearance between the top of the flats at the from and rear of the intake manifold and my engine cover with a friction type caliper. On a lark, I pulled a valve cover and rocker arm to extract a push rod. A push rod of 7.8" would indicate a flat tappet cam, 7.17" would be roller. I set the caliper to the push rod length, then reinstalled the rod, rocker, and valve cover. As it turns out, my little buddy dropped the caliper before I measured it. So, once again I'm not sure what cam I have....

If you have a tight compartment, it is better to wait and measure, before buying. The edelbrock perforner is about 1/2" higher than stock, and the cast iron highrise is about 1" higher than stock. Add carb, + new flame arrester.

Good idea. My current flame arrester will not work on a 4bbl?

Nope. 2brl throat is much smaller than 4brl. Consider a free breathing K&N flame arrester vs a stock mecruiser, if you have the room.

PS: Are you able to delete the "lack there of" now? :)

Yeah, I suppose given what happened yesterday, I can remove the "lack there of" in regards to the snow. But hey, I FINALLY was able to use my new snowblower!!
