I've spoken with an oil company exec about this. His answer made the most sense. The refiner doesn't know how long the gas it refines will be sitting before use. It leaves the refinery with stabilizers already added. That's not to say I don't recommend using a stabilizer but I think it's probably overkill.

Unless the OP is looking at all this stuff offline, he may have just trolled out a "gas" thread. He hasn't been online since posting his ?

Nope, I've been watching and reading as this thread develops! I was clearly under a misconception, and thought there was a well established way to store (which included a full tank). My intent wasn't to start a religious war, I promise! I'll fill'er up with fresh gas come spring and will move onto worrying about some other part of the boat giving me guff!

Thanks for all the feedback!
