second year with my boat.......

last year I lucked out, I had a friend who had inside storage/empty warehouse and was able to put it there for the winter so didn’t have to cover it.

this winter I will not be so lucky and will have to store outside at a friends property.

i have a lot of questions and want to make sure I do this right. the old owner gave me a cover for the boat and plan to use the cover and build a pvc frame to support so won’t collapse with snow.

1.) please see first pic enclosed. The idea is a good one I think I will use umbrella bases though which can be purchased on amazon for $10 and I need two.

2.) how do I determine the height I need to go with the pvc piping? My design I would rely that the 45 degree pipe would be pitched enough to get me over the engine.

3.) by using tees to connect down to the railings does that make me more flexible? How do I clip to the tails?

I am in a Boston whaler class Montauk 17.

first pic is the idea, second pic is my diagram where I tried to draw supplies and how I would execute it.

High enough for the snow to slide off it... what's pictured looks more than ample... tie the connection points from the cover to the trailer frame if u need to.... looks good

Thank you for the response here is what I wound up doing first two pics. I am going to add one more a frame with bars for side support. Last pic I bought those t shape and a frame combos going to add one side support between bases. Then add sand in the bases to give it some weight...

This was very easy to do $50 in supplies and took about a half hour....
How much snow do you get? The reason I ask is I'm not sure that I would tie that frame into your boat railings. Where I live we get some nasty storms & it can pile up in a hurry. Are you sure those railings can handle the snow load & if it's a wet snow it's even heavier. I suppose if you're really diligent about clearing it off but Murphy's Law can plat into it & sh*t happens. Up to you.

I’m in ct sometimes we get a foot of snow.....is that a frame not enough?
The A-frame is fine but unless the snow slides off the load will tranfer down to your boat railings. I'd be worried they'd bend under the weight.
