I have an 87 inline4cyl 3.7L 165Hp mercruiser with a sealed system. I was told that if I lowered front end of boat on trailer I could just take off the end cap no the heat exchanger and drain the raw water that way instead of using the drain bolts...... Sounds iffy to me just wondering what you all think

just move to florida!!! i wouldnt take that guys advice for sure. the best way is to have it done by a local marina. then if it busts a block, its covered by the shops warranty. it might cost a few extra bucks but thats how i would do it if you have any questions on doin it yourself. then have them dewinterize it as well. make sure that they will warranty it first though.

Heat exchangers only cost $500 to $700 plus,so give it a try.

Seriously,I'd stick to the manual.Maybe a bit more work,but it is sure and positive.
