I was just wondering that if you use your boat year round (i live in texas and we have pretty mild winters), is it necessary winterize it? The most amount of time that I wont have it out is maybe a month? Should it still be winterized?

thanks

Re: winterize

I guess I am the oddball. I don't "winterize" my outboard with the exception of running stabil at the end of the season and changing the lu lube. I guess if you call that winterizing I do.

If it was only out a month I would not worry about it... You lucky bugger!

But I would change the LU oil when it was out once a year though.

Your best bet is to use Sta-bil year round. I use one of those WalMart mixing containers for my 2 stroke oil, and I just add the appropriate number of ounces on top of the oil, then pour it all in the tank. Then all you have to do is change the lower unit oil and spray fogging oil through the carb till it dies... if you really want to be thorough. I did have a 2 stroke Tohatsu rust to the cylinder wall once. Used it in salt water, didn't fog it, and let it sit for a couple of years. Freed it with PB Blaster. I don't think anything would happen in one month.
